A student is being investigated after being accused of bringing a knife onto a school bus.

Cypress Lake Middle School Principal Matt Miller sent the following statement to parents:

“I write not to alarm you, but to inform you that the Lee County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a student for allegedly having a weapon on board a bus.

“While the Sheriff’s Office determines if there are any legal consequences, I can assure you that we do not tolerate this kind of behavior at Cypress Lake Middle School. The student involved will be disciplined per the Code of Conduct.

“Thank you to the students who reported this incident to us so we could immediately respond. Working together we can create an environment where students are free to focus on learning.”

There were no injuries reported.
