A man accused of killing two women, one of them his girlfriend, in San Carlos Park will remain in jail without bond.

Ethan Cartwright, 31, had his first appearance hearing on Friday after his Thursday arrest for gunning down a woman inside a home in the 18000 block of Apple Road.

He then chased a second woman and gunned her down as she reached her neighbor’s home.

According to an arrest report for Cartwright, he admitted to killing the woman in a text message to a friend, who then called the sheriff’s office.

Included in the text was also a picture of the woman after she had been shot.

The women killed were mother and daughter, according to the arrest report.

Neighbors also heard yelling and gunshots in the area.

Deputies say Cartwright shot the woman in such close proximity to his children that they had blood spatter on them.

After shooting at least one of the women, Cartwright took two children to a neighbor’s home where he also admitted to killing the woman. The children are ages 2 and 6.

The neighbor who took care of the children told WINK News that Cartwright said he was going back to his home to die by suicide.

Prosecutor Andreas Gardiner said Cartwright executed one of the women in front of his two children. Additionally, there is a video of him chasing the second woman down the road and shooting her.

“I am not a flight risk, I promise you that,” Cartwright said. “I was wondering if there’s any way that I can get a bond.”

The judge denied it.
