A gift from the heart doesn’t have to cost a lot

Shopping for loved ones this holiday season doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg. A gift from the heart is worth millions, which is why thoughtful gifts can help you save this season.

They don’t always have to come in a beautifully wrapped box. Christmas isn’t all about ribbons or tags or packages, boxes, or bags.

Florida Gulf Coast University professor of finance Tom Smythe, Ph.D. wants us to remember Christmas doesn’t come from the store.

He says think broadly about what a gift is this holiday season, especially with all the pandemic-related supply chain issues.

“Maybe what you do is you give a gift certificate for an experience or make gifts,” Smythe explained.

Or even a gift to a charity. “Use this year maybe to be thankful for what we do have and recognize that there’s still a lot of people out there that are struggling, and use that as a gift in family member’s name or something like that,” he added.

If you’re going to donate to charity in the name of your loved one, make sure you donate to one that fits their passions like an animal shelter or toys for kids in need.
