Thousands of people gathered in downtown Fort Myers for the annual Southwest Florida Reading Festival on Saturday.
Guests had the chance to meet best-selling authors while celebrating reading.
The festival took place at the Fort Myers Regional Library.
The event shines a light on the resources the library provides to everyone in the community while also celebrating the power of reading.
Authors gave presentations about their books and there will also be book-signings where you can meet authors.
They also had crafts and activities for children and food truck vendors.
Last year, the event was virtual due to the pandemic, but now they are back.
Children presented their essays on stage as well.
“We’re inspiring a whole new generation of writers and you never know how the Reading Festival can plant the seed for, for somebody to you know, take that step in their life, but they’ll definitely be a display for our aspiring author awards,” said Melissa Baker, coordinator for Southwest Florida Reading Festival.
The festival is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the library at 2450 First St. in Fort Myers.
