A bride and groom are 92 and 89 years young and say they’re the lucky ones for finding love again in each other. As giddy as teenagers, the two were rehearsing for their big day when WINK News reporter Tiffany Rizzo met up with them.

Their story began at Fort Myers Senior Living Complex. This couple proved that it’s never too late for love.

Carol Norman is 92 years young. “What do we love about each other?” Norman said.

And John Vickers is her younger man, at 89. “Oh, that I could talk about that for 30-40 minutes,” Vickers said.

Vickers and Norman are widow and widower after their long and happy marriages. Neither of them thought they’d ever be getting married. “Our friendship grew. And I thought it was becoming more than friendship. And so I proposed to her one day, and she did not see it coming. And it startled her,” Vickers said.

“And she said, ‘I’ll have to think about that.’ And I said, ‘the proposals indefinite, is always going to be there for you.’ Because I had made up my mind that I definitely want to marry her,” said Vickers.

So after some careful consideration, Carol said yes! “She’s 92, and I’m 89,” said Vickers.

“I robbed the cradle.”

She’s a cougar. And she… she preyed on the younger generation. And here I am,” Vickers said.

When Carol walks down the aisle, John will be right there, anxious and ready to say, “I do.”

“When she appears at the back of the church, and I see her for the first time, I’m sure I’m going to be speechless,” said Vickers.

So what will Carol be wearing when she ties the knot? “I have a very special dress. You cannot see it. And I cannot describe it. But it’s gorgeous,” Norman said.

Carol’s daughter-in-law will be the one giving her away. And her 97-year-old best friend, Jean, will be right by her side. Jean Taylor is the matron of honor. “Love is universal love. Love should be in more hearts and minds. Lovers. Wonderful. And I enjoy very much seeing Carol and John so happy,” Taylor said.

Their big day is Saturday, April 2 at 2 p.m. The wedding will be at Fort Myers Christian Church. After they have cake, the couple plans to honeymoon on Captiva.
