Your children could win big just by going on an Easter egg hunt in your own yard. The North Fort Myers Civic Association finished hiding about 1,000 eggs on lawns across town.

They say their inspiration for this hunt comes from a love for their community.

Usually, having someone egg your house isn’t a good thing. But this Easter, it just might be. Christy-Lee Iwanow is the vice president of the North Fort Myers Civic Association. “This is our first year with this route, passing out the Easter eggs randomly into the front yards of the residents. So we’re technically egging people’s houses, you know, and a fun spirit way,” said Iwanow.

The Easter eggs, in this case, aren’t your typical Easter eggs. “So we have these red easter eggs. And all you have to do to participate is be a North Fort Myers resident, walk outside on Easter morning, and look in your front yard to see if you see this red easter egg,” Iwanow said.

The civic association calls it their Easter Extravaganza. “We love our community. And we love North Fort Myers pride. So all of our Easter eggs are red. And we just wanted to be able to reach our community in a different way,” said Lwanow.

Another thing that sets these eggs apart from typical ones is that they aren’t filled with candy. “Inside will be a little note from the Civic Association wishing you a Happy Easter, as well as a little lucky raffle ticket,” Iwanow said.

Christy-Lee Iwanow tells WINK News that that raffle ticket could win you a prize. “So the prizes are definitely more geared towards children. So if you’re a grandparent, and you do win, please feel free to come forward because there are boys’ gifts, and anywhere from baby ages all the way up to 18. So it’s going to be laid out on a display table,” said Iwanow.

They were out all day Saturday just to distribute eggs. “They’re not going to stop until this evening, Saturday evening, as late as they need to so that we are prepped and ready to go for your Easter egg hunt on Easter morning,” Iwanow said.

You can visit their website to find out what those winning numbers are in addition to how to claim your prizes. Those prizes are first come, first serve.
