Diesel prices continue to increase affecting truck drivers and consumers alike.

Diesel prices continue to hit a record high this week at over $5 a gallon.

It’s not just trucking companies that are feeling the impact.

The cost is being passed on to consumers, meaning higher prices for everyday items on store shelves.

These high prices at the pump are affecting every Floridian because it will increase the prices of everything you purchase.

Florida truckers are feeling the impact.

According to AAA, the average cost for diesel in Florida is running at $5.63.

A year ago, prices were at $3 a gallon.

The Florida Trucking Association said the high diesel prices are unsustainable for a lot of small trucking companies to keep running so there are fewer delivery options which only heightens the supply chain crisis.

But, the FTA said they are doing the best to keep on moving.

“Trucking affects and touches every part of the economy. And we keep moving and we will continue to deliver. It just puts a strain on the industry as a whole, which therefore puts a strain on the entire economy of the United States and Florida,” said Alix Miller, president and CEO of the Florida Trucking Association.
