Bessy Bonilla Gutierrez A woman was arrested on DUI charges after crashing into a post with children in the car. According to the Collier County Sheriff’s office booking report, a woman was inside her home Monday night when she heard a loud crash and ran outside to see what happened. The witness said she saw an SUV had driven over the curb stop and crashed into a handicap signpost. She added that the driver, Bessy Bonilla Gutierrez, 31, was visibly impaired and that she saw two children in the car. After the children got out of the car, the witness decided to prevent them from getting back in or allow the woman to drive away, saying it was for their safety. The report states Gutierrez began to hit and scratch., but the witness decided not to press charges. When deputies arrived, a field sobriety test was conducted, which Gutierrez failed. She later blew a 0.20 BAC. There were no injuries in the crash, and Gutierrez faces DUI with BAC over .15 or with a person under 18, and DUI property damage.
