A Lehigh Acres man has been sentenced to five years and nine months in prison for having a firearm as a felon.

Romeo Lenell Battle, 25, was sentenced Monday and ordered to forfeit the gun and ammunition after he pled guilty in April.

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida said deputies from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office arrested Battle after a domestic dispute with a gun in April 2021. Battle was in the home when deputies arrived for the dispute, and his DNA was later found on a gun in the home.

Under federal law, Battle was prohibited from possessing a gun because he had been convicted of a felony in the past.
