UPDATE

The second attempt for the Artemis I launch has been postponed due to the same leak from earlier this week.

Artemis is a go for launch attempt number two on Saturday afternoon.

NASA will attempt the inaugural flight in the Artemis mission after the first attempt failed on Monday. The launch got scrubbed when the team had trouble cooling one of the rocket’s four engines.

Engineers have made some changes to the propellant loading procedure and are ready to try again.

FGCU Professor Dr. Derek Buzasi once worked for NASA in the astrophysics division.

He said it’s critical to ensure everything is close to perfect because the cost of failure is pretty high.

“We don’t have a crewed mission right now, but eventually, we will. But even now, of course, we have an incredibly expensive, complicated piece of hardware there. And we want to make sure that everything works, and so that, if you’re responsible for that, you know, if I were responsible for that, I’m sure I would also be incredibly conservative about everything better line up before I push, go, because you don’t want something really bad to happen,” Buzasi said.

He said he is feeling just as excited knowing the launch may take place this afternoon.
