The crash happened at around 2:30 a.m. and injured two people, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. A 27-year-old man from Lehigh Acres was making a left turn off the exit ramp when he lost control of his car, traveled off the roadway, hit a sign and then a palm tree located in the median. He suffered serious injuries. The palm tree then fell across the eastbound lanes of State Road 80, which caused a sedan driven by a 36-year-old woman, of Lehigh Acres, to hit the tree. She suffered minor injuries in the crash. The driver who hit the tree was transported to the hospital. The crash remains under investigation.
