The Fort Myers Police Department said it has found a 3-year-old child that went missing after a vehicle was carjacked.

A family is relieved after a harrowing Friday afternoon, but a sigh of relief now that the mother and 3-year-old child have been reunited.

According to the Fort Myers Police Department, the car was taken from a Citgo on Palm Beach Boulevard with the child inside and found about three blocks away behind a business at Palm Beach Boulevard and Johnson Avenue in Tice.

The suspect, who was armed, was unknown to the child, police said.

“It’s heart-dropping, really, it doesn’t really happen often where a kid gets kidnapped and get’s found the same day,” family member David Martinez said. Martinez told WINK News he is the child’s uncle.
