FHP: 2 drivers arrested for racing down SR-82 in Lehigh Acres

Two drivers were arrested after the Florida Highway Patrol says they were pulled over for separate instances of racing on SR-82 in Lehigh Acres on Thursday night and Sunday morning.

According to FHP, a trooper saw two vehicles speeding at 110 mph in a 55 mph zone on SR-82 at around 10:15 p.m. Sunday. in the area of Alabama Road. One of the vehicles, an Acura RSX, was pulled over for the violation. The driver, 20-year-old Tony Nguyen-Dinh, of Cape Coral, was arrested and booked into the Lee County Jail. He faces charges of reckless driving and racing on highways.

On October 9, 2022, at 1:19 am, Another trooper saw two vehicles speeding on SR-82, this time going at 130 mph in a 55 mph zone in the area of Sunshine Boulevard. One of the vehicles, a Honda Accord, was pulled over for the violation. The driver, 20-year-old D’Quaryan Elijah Byrd, of Fort Myers, was arrested and booked into the Lee County Jail. He faces charges of reckless driving, racing on highways and additional offenses.

FHP reminds all drivers that people who drive recklessly and race are subject to enhanced penalties, including license suspensions, increased fines, stiffer penalties if a serious injury or death is involved and vehicle impoundment.
