Structure fire in Pine Manor neighborhood displaces family

A Pine Manor neighborhood multi-family structure fire was put out thanks to the teamwork from South Trail Fire & Rescue and the Iona McGregor Fire District on Sunday.

According to the South Trail Fire Protection & Rescue Service District, the fire began on the stove but spread because of substandard and unsafe construction practices.

Nobody was injured or killed in the fire.

As a result of the fire, the Red Cross is assisting a temporarily displaced family.

Both department crews spent extra time on the scene removing charred pieces of ceiling and insulation. The crews also used as much water as they could to prevent further damage to the structure.
