A 26-year-old North Fort Myers man was arrested on Monday after deputies say he caused three hit-and-run crashes before fleeing from one in a stolen vehicle.

Logan Chaney is facing charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, fleeing and eluding law enforcement and possession of fentanyl, according to Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno.

“This convicted felon caused hell on our roadways,” Marceno said.

Chaney is accused of three hit-and-run crashes — one on McGregor Boulevard and another two near Daniels Parkway and I-75.

Marceno said one of the crashes happened on McGregor Boulevard near A and W Bulb Road in south Fort Myers. Marceno said he terrorized one victim, blocking her in and causing a vehicle crash with another car.

I have him in front of me, and he is literally hitting my car in,” the woman, sounding petrified, said on a 911 call.

Once he realized the victim was on the phone, he fled the scene, Marceno said.

Law enforcement then received phone calls reporting hit-and-run crashes on Daniels Parkway near I-75. The vehicle in those crashes matched the description of the car driven by Chaney, Marceno said.

At the last hit-and-run crash, Chaney is accused of stealing the vehicle of a good Samaritan who pulled over to help.

The vehicle was found in Lehigh Acres. Chaney was tracked down with the help of the aviation unit, Marceno said.
