The Cape Coral Police Department arrested two people for stealing a car on Friday after receiving a call about trespassing.

Police say they got a call about two people, later identified as Bartholomew Alan Weaver, 56, and Keith James Zinkand, 33, for trespassing on a property just before 3:30 p.m. Friday.

When police arrived, they saw Weaver and Zinkand loading items into a car that the officers realized was stolen earlier in the day.

Cape Coral police say the two stole the car after they found it running and unlocked. They say the two men tried to sell and pawn thousands of dollars of pool equipment in the car but failed. Police say the equipment was dumped somewhere after the failed pawn.

Weaver and Zinkand were arrested and face charges of grand theft and grand theft of a motor vehicle.

Police say the pool equipment that had been dumped was recovered.
