According to Matlacha/Pine Island Fire Control District, crews from both the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and Matlacha/Pine Island Fire found the kayaker near Jug Creek after getting lost in the mangroves. From the scene. CREDIT: Matlacha/Pine Island Fire Control District LCSO’s helicopter helped the Pine Island Fire shallow water vessel, named M151, get through the mangroves to where the kayaker was. The kayaker was eventually returned to the marina. The kayaker didn’t suffer any injury while lost.
