Bicyclist killed in hit-and-run on Lee Blvd in Lehigh Acres

A bicyclist was killed by an unidentified SUV driver in a Sunday afternoon hit-and-run after being thrown from his bike in a crash that critically injured a motorcyclist on Lee Boulevard in Lehigh Acres.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 24-year-old Fort Myers man was riding a motorcycle east in the inside lane of Lee Boulevard around 4:30 p.m. An 83-year-old Lehigh Acres man on a bicycle was attempting to cross the eastbound lanes of Lee Boulevard. An unidentified person was driving a gold SUV (possibly a Nissan Murano) east on Lee Boulevard.

The motorcycle collided with the bicycle. Both the motorcyclist and the bicyclist were thrown from their vehicles and landed on Lee Boulevard. The SUV struck the bicyclist and drove off. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The motorcyclist sustained critical injuries and was transported to an area hospital. Anyone with information regarding this crash is asked to call *FHP (*347) or Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-8477.
