Cedric Patterson, 27. (Credit: Collier County Sheriff’s Office) A Collier County man was sentenced Tuesday morning to 15 years in prison for sexual battery on a child. According to the State Attorney’s Office, Cedric Hagerty Patterson, 27, was sentenced to 15 years in prison followed by 15 years of sex offender probation for one count of lewd or lascivious battery. He was sentenced as a habitual felony offender and convicted following a trial in November. The crime was discovered in April 2021, when the Collier County Sheriff’s Office Correctional Investigations Section of the Naples Jail Center noticed an inappropriate correspondence between Patterson, who was in jail on an unrelated charge, and another person. He was making phone calls and sending emails, referencing sexual contact when the other person was a child. The person he was contacting was the victim. Patterson admitted to investigators that he committed a crime involving a child.
