A man has been arrested for allegedly starting a house fire in Fort Myers.

The house fire on Third Street was reported to the Fort Myers police and fire departments at around 9 p.m., on Thursday.

An early investigation made by the state fire marshal deemed the fire suspicious.

The Fort Myers Fire Chief told WINK News that the fire had spread to both floors of the home, then a mobile home and RV parked nearby, along with two sheds on the property.

No injuries have been reported at this time; however, nearby neighbors were evacuated due to the blaze.

WINK News spoke with Jerry Miller, the property owner about the house fire.

Miller told WINK that he was out of town at the time of the house fire and that he lost one of his cats due to the blaze.

He continued to mention that Vuolo is homeless, stating that he had a repeated history of running into trouble with law enforcement.
