A Jamaica Bay community home was damaged in a fire sparked by an overloaded circuit, according to the South Trail Fire & Rescue Service District.

South Trail Fire & Rescue’s Squad 63 arrived on scene to find a house in flames Friday afternoon.

Crews extinguished the fire shortly after arriving.

There were no reported injuries. There was also no interior damage to the house.

Investigators later determined the fire was caused by an overloaded circuit.

Officials remind the community to check the amperage for items that are left charging to confirm a safe power supply and to never use more than what the circuit breaker is rated for.
