The Florida Highway Patrol responded to a deadly crash that killed a man on Interstate 75 southbound.

According to FHP, the crash involved a 20-year-old male from Fort Myers occurred around mile marker 134, south of Colonial Boulevard, at around 1:10 a.m. on Friday.

The man had swerved to the right to avoid the slower-moving traffic, where he had lost control of his vehicle, traveling off the roadway and onto the grassy shoulder.

The car then collided with a tree and caught on fire.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, FHP reports.

A 20-year-old female passenger sustained minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
