Charlotte County Fire/EMS rescue crews responded as backup to a boat fire about 200 yards off the beach, just south of Stump Pass in the Gulf.

Charlotte County Fire/EMS Marine 1 crew went to help with Englewood Fire Department’s Fire Boat 72. They found a 25-foot sailboat on fire, stuck on a sandbar.

The crews managed to put out the flames and found no one on board the boat.

They used spotlights and thermal imaging cameras to search the nearby water for any possible victims but didn’t find anyone.

Dispatch contacted the registered owner using the boat’s registration numbers. That person said he had recently sold the boat.
