The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly crash involving two motorcycles on I-75S near SR-82.

According to troopers, the crash occurred at around 10:37 p.m. on Tuesday near mile marker 138, causing the exit ramp for exit 138, MLK Jr. Boulevard to close temporarily.

Two motorcycles were traveling down I-75 at a high rate of speed, approaching SR-82, when both drivers lost control of their vehicles, causing them to overturn and eject onto the road.

Both motorcycles came to final rest on the west grass shoulder, several hundred feet south of the area of the collision.

One driver, an 18-year-old male from Cape Coral, was transported to an area hospital to be treated for critical injuries.

The other motorcycle driver, a 21-year-old male from Cape Coral, died on the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
