The Cape Coral man who confessed to luring a teen into his van, then raping her was scheduled to appear in court this morning. However he did not appear.

A continuance was filed on Monday for a case management conference on Aug. 1 at 1:30 p.m.

According to the Cape Coral Police Department, 28-year-old Christian Hartman lied to the 15-year-old victim, telling her he had just turned 18.

When they met up at a park, officers said Hartman asked the victim to get in the van so they could listen to music. He then raped her.

The teen told police the van had no seats, only a mattress.

When police questioned Hartman, he confessed.

Hartman faces one count of sexual battery. He’s scheduled to appear in court at 8:30 Monday morning for arraignment.
