The Cape Coral Police Department has released its report regarding a tire explosion that killed a man at a Firestone garage on Sunday. According to the report released Tuesday, a witness said they were trying to inflate a tire, but it wasn’t working and began to overinflate. Several warnings were given not to continue inflating the tire. Witnesses said that when the victim pressed down on the tire with his body weight, the pressure caused the tire, with the rim inside, to explode. Other employees said they heard a loud bang and saw the victim on the floor with injuries to his head. The investigation is now in the hands of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
