One person is in the hospital, and two others have been arrested after a shooting transpired during a carjacking near a school in Golden Gate.

Collier County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the scene at 49th Street Southwest Tuesday morning, right by Golden Gate Elementary School.

When they arrived at the scene, they saw several shell casings on the road.

Deputies on the scene said the victim sustained a bullet wound that traveled through his back and stomach. Prior to being transported, the victim told deputies that two men had stolen his rental vehicle.

CCSO said Ring doorbell camera video shows one of the suspects stomping on the victim’s head several times while he was lying on the ground after having been shot. The report describes several “soccer kicks” to the head.

A witness told deputies that both suspects fled in the vehicle, a white SUV.

Later, the SUV was stopped at Interstate 75 and Pine Ridge Road, after it matched the vehicle described.

The suspects were identified as Rekem and Paulina Warren and were arrested.

Rekem was arrested for aggravated battery and possession of a controlled substance, and Paulina was arrested for grand theft auto.

Pierre remains in the hospital.
