The Lighthouse Beach parking lot at Gulfside reopened in Sanibel Beach on Friday morning after Tropical Storm Debby inundated it with sand. According to the city of Sanibel, additional open beach parking lots include Blind Pass, Boman’s Beach, the Sanibel Boat Ramp and Trost. The parking lot was closed due to the tropical storm. The Sanibel public information officer said it was covered in sand and water. Lighthouse Beach (Bayside), Gulfside City Park (Algiers), and Turner remain closed while crews work to prepare the sites for visitors. A notice will be provided when they are open.
