Shooting kills 1 in northwest Cape Coral neighborhood

The Cape Coral Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting in a northwest Cape Coral neighborhood that killed one person.

Police responded to the scene located on Northwest 25th Place at around 10 p.m. on Tuesday.

While on the scene, WINK News reporters approached a neighbor who claimed to have heard that a person was shot while bringing out their trash.

Another neighbor on the scene presented footage from her Ring doorbell camera, which captured loud sounds resembling gunshots.

The CCPD dive team was deployed to the scene, and investigators redirected their focus to the nearby canal near Northwest First Terrace and Northwest 25th Place.

Another scene at Northwest 13th Place prompted a response from the CCPD and SWAT.

According to a source, a person was seen leaving the scene at Northwest 25th Place before reaching Northwest 13th Place.

Police have not confirmed if the two scenes are related.
