Supervisor of Elections websites crashed across several counties

Published: Updated:

As the poll closed, many county Supervisors of Election websites crashed.

Users trying to find election results were instead greeted with a spinning wheel to nowhere.

The Charlotte County Supervisor of Elections turned to Facebook to get results out, posting, “The initial primary results from tonight’s elections are now available on the state website. Due to high traffic, you might experience some delays accessing the results on our vendor-provided site. To stay updated, please follow this link: EL45A 2024 Primary Election unofficial results link: https://enr.electionsfl.org/CHA/3657/Summary/.”

Lee County also directed people to the state website through its Facebook page: https://enr.electionsfl.org/LEE/Summary/3673/.

More than an hour after the polls closed, Collier, DeSoto, Glades, and Hendry all reported issues as well.

WINK News learned that this issue does not appear to be isolated to Southwest Florida. Several counties in the Tampa Bay area also experienced issues.

WINK News Reporter Tiffany Rizzo has learned that the problem appeared to be related to a connectivity issue.

VR Systems, an election software provider, hosts several Florida Counties and is apparently working to resolve the issue. We attempted to reach out directly to VR Systems but were instead forwarded to a Florida election results page.

We will continue working to get more answers and bring you any updated information as we get it.
