The Lee County Supervisor of Elections office has confirmed that there will not be a recount for the Lee County School Board race.

On Tuesday, the unofficial results placed candidate Bill Ribble in the lead for the District Three seat with 12,307 votes. Kaitlyn Schoeffel came in at a close second with 12,120 votes.

In order to qualify for an automatic recount, candidates need to be within a voting threshold of 0.05%. Schoeffel was shy of meeting this requirement by an additional 0.002%.

“If anything, I want this to be a message for all of the people in Lee County that your vote 1,000% does matter,” Schoeffel said. “It does make a difference, because it came down to just such a few amount of votes to determine this election.”
