The Fort Myers Police Department has confirmed the arrest of a man suspected of stealing a puppy from a Fort Myers pet store.

Timothy Smith, 43, was identified and charged with a felony offense on Wednesday for stealing from Pet Kingdom.

FMPD said Smith was already in custody for an unrelated crime he had committed two days later in a neighboring jurisdiction.

Through interviews with Smith, authorities have not yet been able to find the puppy.
