FHP arrests second 17-year-old after fatal SR-82 crash

The Florida Highway Patrol has confirmed the arrest of a second 17-year-old after a fatal multi-vehicle crash on State Road 82.

The driver, a 17-year-old male, was arrested on Friday afternoon. Authorities say he fled the scene of the crash involving four vehicles last week.

The crash occurred on Sept. 7, just before 2 p.m., near the intersection of Harcourt Avenue south of Alabama Road.

A 17-year-old was killed and two other passengers in the car sustained serious injuries and were transported to an area hospital.



On the day of the crash, a 17-year-old was arrested at the scene, but a white sedan involved fled the scene.

Troopers now say they have the driver and have charged him with the following:

  • vehicular homicide
  • reckless driving with serious injury
  • reckless driving with personal injury
  • two counts of reckless driving with property damage
  • leaving the scene with death
  • leaving the scene with serious injury
  • leaving the scene with property damage

The crash remains under investigation.
