FILE PHOTO – Little Pine Island Bridge. 4-10-24 The Florida Department of Transportation has announced the temporary closure of the Little Pine Island Bridge. The bridge in Matlacha will close on Tuesday. FDOT said that these closures will allow crews to accept and unload deliveries of concrete bridge piles from barges to the worksite. These deliveries will start as early as 10 a.m. and will continue until all piles are unloaded. Crews will clear traffic in between deliveries to lessen the impact on motorists traveling on and off the island. Drivers are asked to exercise caution and reduce speed while driving through the work zone.
