What’s open and what’s closed as Helene affects SWFL

As Hurricane Helene passes by Florida, many businesses and services in Southwest Florida are adjusting their hours or closing temporarily due to the wind and rain.

Some grocery stores and essential services remain open to help residents stock up on supplies, while schools and government offices have announced closures.

Schools

Government Offices and Services

  • The City of Naples will open its city offices at 1 p.m. on Friday.
  • Hendry County and Lee County Government offices are open on Friday.
  • The City of LaBelle announced that City Hall will be open Friday.
  • The City of Cape Coral has announced that City Hall and ancillary offices will be open Friday.
  • The City of North Port has announced that City Hall and other city offices will reopen on Friday.
  • Lee County Waste Pro collections will shift one day: Thursday collection will occur on Friday, and Friday collection will occur on Saturday.
  • For Charlotte County residents, residential curbside collection of garbage, recyclables, and yard trimmings will resume on Friday.

Ports and Transportation

Southwest Florida International Airport is open and on a regular schedule
