Lee County provides updates ahead of Hurricane Milton

Lee County officials held a news conference regarding Hurricane Milton.

Lee County Public Safety Director Ben Abes advised residents in flood zones A and B to evacuate immediately, as mandatory advisories should not be taken lightly.

Nearly 1,600 people have taken shelter at the designated locations throughout Lee County.

Ahead of the storm, four more locations will be opened for residents:

  • Harns Marsh Elementary located at 1800 Unice Ave, Lehigh Acres
  • Harns Marsh Middle located at 1820 Unice Ave, Lehigh Acres
  • East Lee County High School  located at 715 Thomas Sherwin Ave, Lehigh Acres
  • Alico Arena located at Florida Gulf Coast Univesity.

Free shuttle service provided by LeeTran will be provided for those who need transportation.

Pets are allowed in all shelters; however, they must be leashed and placed in a cage if you own one.

Those who choose to evacuate must bring the following:

  • Three days supply of food (Must be shelf-stable)
  • Water
  • medication
