Collier County residents can catch their breath following Hurricane Milton; however, the area faces a new challenge.

Power surges have been occurring in isolated areas, irritating Collier County residents, which provokes the question, “Where is the Florida Power and Light?”

The county’s director of emergency operations noted recent storm damage and the elements, such as salt water, rain, and sand.

However, some areas now experience quick power interruptions almost daily, and many note that their digital clocks reset daily.

FPL workers have been working diligently to rinse the circuit breakers to resolve the power surging issue.

WINK News contacted FPL regarding any potential long-term effects caused by the debris.

A representative mentioned that damaged electrical connections, surges, and power outages could continue for days and weeks, and more trees or branches could fall.

The representative then said that FPL is working to restore the electricity and prevent future power surges from occurring.
