A school resource officer at Pelican Elementary saved an infants’ life at a traffic stop in Cape Coral.

In December, Officer Chris Anzalone was on his way home from work when he saw a car driving recklessly.

He initiated a traffic stop, when the driver stopped and exited the vehicle, yelling, “My baby, my baby!”

Anzalone quickly moved to the vehicle and saw an infant that was visibly blue and not breathing.

He said used his medical training to open up the baby’s airway saving the infants’ life.

Cape Coral Police Department Chief Anthony Sizemore met with Anzalone Tuesday to present him with the Life Saving Award.

In a Facebook post, the CCPD amended Anzalone’s training, experience, and willingness to go above and beyond saved a baby’s life.
