Man accused of stealing ATV from DeSoto County campground

A man has been arrested after allegedly being caught with drugs while driving an ATV that was reported stolen last year in DeSoto County.

According to the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office, on Dec. 11, 2024, deputies responded to reports of a stolen ATV from the Peace River Campground.

On Thursday, deputies observed Bryan Jeffery Lucas driving the stolen ATV on the roadway.

After conducting a traffic stop, 911 dispatchers confirmed Lucas had no valid driver’s license.

During his arrest, deputies discovered 1.47 grams of methamphetamine in his pocket.

Lucas now faces charges including grand theft of a motor vehicle, possession of a controlled substance and knowingly driving with a suspended license.
