LEE COUNTY, Fla.- An Alva man is under arrest for allegedly setting his wife on fire.

According to investigators, 42-year-old Kizer Pontoon’s wife told them her husband poured a gallon of gas on her and lit her on fire after an argument.

The victim told police Pontoon became angry with her when she was dancing with another man at a party. The victim says he began to physically attack her while they were walking home.

Pontoon’s wife says he also threatened to kill her.

A police report states after arriving at the residence, Pontoon took a gas can and poured gasoline over his wife’s head and right shoulder. He then allegedly took a lighter and lit the front of her shirt on fire.

Officials say Pontoon changed his story numerous times when interrogated about the incident.

The victim is now recovering at Tampa General Hospital with severe burns to her torso, arms, face and neck.

Pontoon remains in the Lee County Jail on no bond. He faces several charges including arson and kidnapping.
