LEE COUNTY, Fla.- A judge set a $27,000 bond for a North Fort Myers man at the center of a standoff that lasted nine hours Sunday.

45-year-old Matthew Taylor made his first appearance in court Wednesday morning. The judge ruled Taylor has to surrender all his weapons and can’t have any contact with his wife.

Deputies say Taylor got upset with his wife last weekend because she spent too much money on Christmas presents.

According to authorities, Taylor then barricaded himself inside their home in the Herons Glen community and threatened to kill himself.

Many residents were evacuated from their homes during the tense standoff.
