FORT MYERS, Fla.- A Miami man was arrested in Southwest Florida during a traffic stop.

A Lee County Sheriff’s Office detective stopped Olarry Castro for speeding and having an obscured registration plate. Inside the car, deputies discovered hundreds of movies, many not even released yet.

The detective first noticed Castro’s van was full of boxes. Police say the detective believed the boxes contained illegal DVDs.

Castro consented to have the detective search his van.

Authorities counted 900 counterfeit DVDs. The Motion Picture Association of America confirmed they were not authentic.

If sold to the public, the illegal DVDs would have a potential loss value of $18,000.

Castro is charged with unauthorized transfer of sound.
