Celebrate Fat Tuesday with a Paczki

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. – Fat Tuesday is a day to celebrate and eat, for some that means indulging in some famous iconic Fat Tuesday fair, such as a paczki or a king cake.

Tuesday, Sweet Odins Bakery in Bonita Springs is doing just that. They plan to make and sell well more than 60 dozen paczki and king cakes in just one day.

Like a jelly doughnut, a paczki is a polish pastry made from rich dough containing eggs, fats and sugar. Deep fried and filled with a fruit filling, then typically covered with powered sugar.

The king cake, is a danish like roll typically found with a braided cinnamon inside and a frosted sugar finish on the top. Thousands of king cakes are consumed for Mardi Gras celebrations.

Sweet Odins Danish Bakery is open Monday through Saturday and located at 24830 S. Tamiami Trail, Suite 2100 in Bonita Springs.
