NORTH NAPLES,Fla. – A man was arrested near the intersection of Vanderbilt Road and US 41 after a witness found him passed out in traffic. But the story only started there, the witness says when he tried to help, the man took off swerving all over the road.

WINK News was there walking along a man in handcuffs getting escorted into a sheriff’s car.

“Are you serious man? I’m not, I don’t need you near me right now,” said a man identified by the Collier County Sheriff’s Office as Gregory Casey.

The witness who didn’t want to give his name says cars were honking and Casey was passed out at a light blocking traffic. The witness says he did a U-turn, blocked traffic and jumped out to try and help the unconscious man.

“He just had his head back and was leaned back in his seat,” said the witness who dialed 911. “I knocked on the hood and he was unresponsive. I knocked on the window and when I went up to the window he was still unresponsive.”

So the witness went back to his car to grab a glass breaker but says that is when Casey woke up.

“As I got out of my vehicle to his vehicle again, he took off.” The witness says Casey was driving all over the road and hit the curb a couple of times.

Casey was arrested for DUI. He is expected to go before a judge early Saturday morning. WINK News will be there to bring an update on his arrest.
