New fire station dedicated in North Naples

NORTH NAPLES, Fla. – WINK News is getting a first look at a new $3.9 million fire station in North Naples.

The 16,000 square foot facility is located on Livingston Road near the northern part of Collier County. On Thursday, the North Collier Fire District dedicated the fire station.

The district bought the land for it almost 15 years ago, but delayed building the facility because of the economic downturn.  The fire station can withstand a Category 5 hurricane.

”We have additional dormitories space so if we lose a station on the beach, we can pull those firefighters back and it’s a shelter for them,” said Fire Commission Chairman Chris Lombardo.

Firefighters will begin working out of the facility by June 1.
