WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (AP) – Police say a train struck and killed a 47-year-old man who was walking along the tracks in central Florida.

The crash happened Sunday night in Winter Haven.

Witnesses told police they saw Tony Harol Gunn of Winter Haven walking on the westbound tracks and yelled for him to get out of the way of the approaching train.

Police said the train’s engineer sounded the horn numerous times but Gunn didn’t move. The CSX train hit him at approximately 40 mph. The train consisted of two engines, which were not pulling any cars.

Gunn was declared dead at the scene.
