Bear slams into Lehigh couple

FORT MYERS, Fla.–A picturesque vacation took a terrifying turn for a Lehigh Acres couple– when a bear attacked them.

It happened just days ago at Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming.

“The Park Ranger said if it had been a grizzly, it could have been a lot worse,” said Donna Doser.

Donna and Vince Doser are lucky to be alive.
Just days ago the couple left on their five week trip across the United States, but it was suddenly cut short when they were on their motorcycle leaving Yellowstone National Park.

“All of the sudden I see a bear starting to cross the road in front of us and I yelled bear and I basically just got it out of my mouth and it hit us,” said Donna.

A female black bear slammed in to the side of their bike, tearing ligaments in Donna’s ankle and the impact actually broke Vince’s ankle.

“Probably lucky she hit us from the side and not head on,” said Donna.

All they had was their cell phone, but no service and all they could do was wait for someone to drive by.

“We knew that we were hurt. It was hard for both of us to get off the bike,” said Donna.

And the bear? Donna and Vince though surely she didn’t make it after the impact.

“The bear laid there for for about 20 minutes to half an hour then got up and then wondered back in to the woods,” said Vince.

Finally other bikers rode by and stopped to help the Dosers.
Tonight, they are now finally back home in Lehigh Acres and are both still injured.

“Very, very sore. They put this hard splint and trying to hold things in place,” said Vince.

Park officials believe the bear will also be alright.
