FORT MYERS, Fla.- A former Lee County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) deputy is under arrest, facing charges of grand theft and falsifying official documents.

Former Corporal Michael Schlosser retired in August after being at the center of multiple investigations.

Schlosser’s wife, Lynn Schlosser, was accused of stealing the identities of elderly patients while she worked as a nurse and going on spending sprees with their credit.

An internal affairs investigation determined Deputy Schlosser was unaware of what his wife was doing, and was allowed to return to work. The deputy retired when he was questioned about issues on his time card.

The sheriff’s office discovered Schlosser was billing a private company, as well as LCSO, for hours he worked as a security guard.

“We kept the pressure on him from the moment we got a whiff that something wasn’t right,” said Sheriff Mike Scott.

Schlosser is being held on $40,000 bond.
