Bees swarm Lehigh Acres neighborhood

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. – Stephanie Evans had a surprise guest in her front yard Monday. Actually… hundreds of them.

“Just like a thousand little dots flying over to the bush,” Evans told WINK News Tuesday.

The little dots were bees, and they filled the sky in front of her home for hours.

“I just thought it was crazy. I’ve never seen it before,” said Evans.

The bees were were within just a few feet of where Evans and her 2-year-old son were sitting on their front porch. Thankfully Evans and her son kept their distance and were not stung.

WINK News spoke to a number of local pest control companies who said this type of activity is common this time of year, but they all said lately they’ve been getting more calls for bees than normal.

Evans hopes her encounter will be an eye-opener for others.

“Just to let other families know before you let your kids run into any type of bushes or anything just to make sure there’s not thousands of bees in it,” she said.
