NAPLES, Fla.- A big honor for the Gulf Coast High School Marching Band is just 37 days away, as they’ve been invited to march in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The band has been practicing since the start of the school year and is ready to show off their skills in front of thousands in New York City and on national television. This is the first time a band from Collier County has been selected to attend the Thanksgiving Day tradition and will be the only high school band in the parade representing the State of Florida. In all, just 12 bands from across the country will march in the parade and only six are high schools. Around 400 students and band support staff will make the trip to New York City. The students will march for about two hours in the parade, rain, snow or shine and then finish the parade on 34th street in Harold Square where they’ll preform live on national television. WINK News will air the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade live on Thanksgiving morning. To help the band make their way up north, you can donate by clicking here. The Gulf Coast High School Marching Band leaves for New York on Tuesday, November 24.
